Cinnamon Heart Pie

This pie is a bit different from the other two I've tried out this week, as it is a bit more of a grown-up sort of pie. It's thinner and denser, and goes really well with coffee. I see this one working really well as a breakfast pie.

What you're seeing is a filling made from cream and cinnamon--as it bakes, the layers separate...hence the name. Even better, though, is the pastry that it is served on. The crust is made with crushed pecans and adds its own flavour to the pie. If you've been afraid of making your own pastry before, this is the one to try--only four ingredients and no rolling required. You just get it to dough consistency and then work it into the pie plate with your fingers.

I think this one might be a winner, though I'm not sure it's as party looking as some of the other pies in the lineup. Next up is the Peanut Butter Cup Pie--that should be more party-specific.
