How does my garden grow?

I haven't been writing much about it, but that doesn't mean I haven't been watching over my wee garden carefully.  Everything is going well, once we cleared out a few pea...mishaps.  I've got four peas that are now cheerfully staked up in the windowsill (they'll be ready to go out as soon as this weather settles) and nine bean plants that are ready to take over the world.  The sweet peas are ready to go out into the front yard this weekend as soon as I find enough time to set up a string and stake system for them.  My lupins will be potted soon--since they grow for so long, I'm going to put them in large pots and see how they do til next year.

Everything else is in varying stages of wee sproutiness--they're being well-loved (R mocks, but I still say that talking to the little guys inspires them to greatness) and watered.  I've got more seeds coming in another order because...well, because I'm adicted is why.  Don't judge.  You can see a wee glimpse below:

<whisper>We've secretly replaced this Christmas Cactus's month of November with the month of February...let's see if he notices..</whisper>

I have no idea why my Christmas Cactus is in full bloom, but it undoubtedly is in full bloom.  In fact, it's about twice as blossomy now as it was when I took this picture.  What makes it doubly strange is the fact that it already bloomed this season--it was in glorious bloom back in November/December.  I didn't even know they could do that.

Like the first day of school: My first Ebay auction

It had to be done--the first attempt at selling one of my beaded necklaces on Ebay.  Oh, the funny feeling in the tummy.  Will the kids like me?  Will they come and see my stuff?  Will they...um...buy my necklace?  Yeah, the metaphor falls apart eventually, but it is very similar in feeling to that first day of school.

Apparently, people do this all the time, but I have to say, it felt strange trying to come up with the price to start bidding at.  I know how much the components were, of course, and how long it took me to work on, but...I dont know, even though he is my least favourite necklace (I chose him to sell because I made two of a similar style, so I won't miss him and he isn't the one I fell in love with) I still hate to think of someone thinking he's cheap.  He's not cheap!  He's just wee.  Poor guy.

You can see the sale at the following link:

A plethora of handmade necklaces

I went on some sort of beading binge yesterday--I sat down with the intention of making one delicate pink illusion necklace for a friend who is leaving the country and the next thing I know, I've made seven necklaces and I am actually walking hunched over from the crick in my neck from curling over the seed bead plate.  When you add in the limp I have from knocking my knee out of whack the other day, it was surely my most attractive moment.  I was like some gloriously bejewelled Quasimodo.

The thumbnails below will give you a larger-sized slideshow, but if you click through to my Flickr page proper here, you'll see the descriptions that go with each image.  Just if you're curious about why or how I made each one.

I just got back from a trip that included a stop at the bookshop to pick up a manual for more advanced beading and wire weaving, so I think we may fully be in the midst of jewellery making madness.
